Welcome to the City of Hercules, Park & Recreation Tiny Tots program.

Preschool Tiny Tots:
The Preschool program is designed to develop the “whole child” in all aspects of your child’s development. Children are offered the basic learning skills of language, fine motor skills, communication skills, shapes, colors, number, and gross motor development. The Tiny Tots programs are theme-based curriculum with an academic component to the 3 phases of classes that we offer. Children are encouraged to explore and learn through play and discovery of their environments around them. You will receive a monthly calendar telling you about the daily events. You will always know what is happening in the classroom. What is your child discovering today?

New Family Registration – April 15th at the Community Center
Registration for the 2026-2027 school year will open to new families on April 15, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. at the Hercules Community Center. Registration forms will be available online, with instructions on how to fill out the paperwork around April 10, 2026. You cannot turn in  your registration form until the first day of registration, April 15, at the Community Center. Space is limited, and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Completed registration forms are welcome after April 15th, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday at the Community Center; (510) 799-8291.

Registration Requirements:  What you will need to register.

• A completed registration form. The Physician’s Report you will take home and is due back to the Community Center Attn: Preschool by July 30, 2026.
• Select a class and payment option with first payment and registration fee. If no payment is made, we will need to take the next person.
• Proof of residence for Resident discount.
• Little Learners must be potty trained within the first two months of attendance. Preschoolers must be completely potty trained prior to the first day of class. No pull-ups or disposable underwear of any kind
• Proof of Age-Birth Certificate. All enrollments require a copy of their birth certificate with their registration packet (New families only).
• No preschool registration after December 1, 2026.

Emergency forms:

We have an online system called ePACT.  It will invite you to fill out your child’s paperwork once you register your child for a program. See the attached ePACT information letter.

Little Learners: 3 yrs to 4 yrs (48 months)

Designed to introduce young preschoolers to their first pre-school experience with a social and emotional component. The emphasis of this class is learning how to work with others in a variety of social ways and developing emotional, physical, and creative aspects of the child. Through dramatic play and exploring sensory development with hands-on activities we will keep the little learner busy in our group stations. We will introduce several basic areas: cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, social and sensory development. This class will build the Little Learner’s confidence in a play based and positive environment.

Requirements: Child must be 3 years old by November 1, 2026. This is the Only class where pull ups are allowed the first two months of enrollment. 

Pre-Kinder Multi-Age: Age 3.4 yrs to 5 yrs (60 months)

Welcome to our Mixed-Age Preschool (“Multi-Age”) classroom. This class serves children ages 3.4–4 who are preparing for the next step in their early education. Students build responsibility, independence, and confidence through hands-on learning and daily routines. We encourage children to explore a variety of classroom learning centers and interact with peers of different ages, helping them strengthen social skills and cooperation. Our thematic-based program includes an academic component while also emphasizing positive self-help skills to support kindergarten readiness. Children in this class will transition to Transitional Kindergarten or possibly a Kindergarten program.

Requirements: Child must be 3.4 years old by September 1, 2026. Must be fully potty trained with no exceptions. 

Fridays Enrichment class: Ages 3.4yrs by September 1, 2026 , to 5yrs

Our Friday Enrichment Program is a mixed-age class for children ages 3.4-5 years old. Your child may already be enrolled in one of our weekly preschool classes, or this may be your first experience with the City of Hercules Preschool program, all are welcome!
This theme- based class brings learning to life each Friday as we explore a new monthly theme. Activities may include STEAM exploration, gardening, art, and much more. It’s an exciting, hands-on experience where children might get creative with paint or dig in the dirt.
Friday Enrichment focuses on creative activities, cooperative play, and positive social interactions with peers - all while having fun and building confidence.

Requirements: Child must be 3.4 years old by September 1, 2026. Must be fully potty trained with no exceptions.
