About the Project
The Hercules Hub is a regional, state-of-the-art housing and transportation development. It will connect thousands of housing units with a new train stop along the Capitol Corridor, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, bus routes, carpool options, and a future ferry service. The Hub has all the components of the ideal regional housing and transit center and will be a model for thriving transit-oriented communities throughout the Bay Area.

Project Updates
- November 2025 - City preparing National Railroad Partnership Program application for January 2026 submittal.
- June 2025 - Initial design for utility relocations to make room for the UP railroad track realignment is underway using $1.2M in grant funding. The City continues to seek $12M in grants to complete design of the Hub. A TIRCP grant application for $2.4M was awarded, is not anticipated to be allocated until October 2025.
- March 2024 - City awarded an $850K earmark from Congressman Garamendi’s office to advance the project.
- December 2023 - FSP grant not received.
- October 2023 - City awarded $2.4M in not yet allocated TIRCP funding (see below). City also awarded $800K in Subregional Transporation Mitigation Program funding from the West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee (WCCTAC).
- May 2023 - 2 grant applications submitted; TIRCP (Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program) grant and FSP (Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger) grant.
