City of Hercules Celebrates Public Works Week and Welcomes New Public Works Superintendent Chris Morris

Hercules, Calif. – This National Public Works Week, observed May 17-23, the City of Hercules is proud to announce the recent appointment of Chris Morris as the City’s new Public Works Superintendent.  Morris brings nearly two decades of public works experience and leadership to the Hercules community.

“We are excited to welcome Superintendent Morris and the valuable experience, leadership and dedication to public service he brings to Hercules,” said Interim City Manager Patrick Tang. “His background in infrastructure operations will ensure the City continues providing reliable services and enhancing the quality of life for our community.”

A Napa Valley native, Morris joins the City following an 18-year career with the City of American Canyon’s Public Works Department, where he most recently served as Wastewater Collection Supervisor. Throughout his career, he has built extensive expertise in wastewater systems, paving, plumbing, heavy equipment operations and emergency response.

The California Water Environment Association recognized Morris and his team as the 2025 Small Collection System of the Year, highlighting his commitment to operational excellence and public service.

Morris holds Grade 3 Water Distribution and Grade 4 Collection System certifications and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management and Communications. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, staying active and spending time with his family and his 11-year-old son.

“I’m excited for this next chapter and the opportunity to continue serving the Bay Area community,” said Morris. “I look forward to working alongside the team to help maintain the services and infrastructure Hercules residents rely on every day.”
