Republic Services recycling and waste collection service update:
Republic Services has informed the City that some residential TRASH-only collection has resumed today. They expect to operate limited residential trash collection routes through Saturday, July 19. Therefore, they are asking customers to leave their carts out for service. Please be aware that your pickup may happen on a day different from the usual schedule.
Alternatively, customers may utilize the following services to mitigate the impact of the Republic Services solid waste collection strike.
Hercules residents can bring up to four bags of solid waste to the following locations, at no charge:
City Hall
111 Civic Drive in Hercules
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Golden Bear Transfer Station
1 Parr Boulevard, Richmond
Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Proof of Hercules residency required with display of ID. Bulky waste, e-waste or household hazard waste will not be accepted at either location.
The City also encourages residents to place trash in sturdy trash bags and secure them on their property where they can’t be broken open by animals. Sturdy bags are available at the City Hall solid waste drop-off location, a maximum of four per household, while supplies last. When Republic Services can resume service, they will pick up accumulated material at no charge to the customer.
Beginning Thursday July 17th bagged recycling will be accepted at the West County Resource Recovery facility at 101 Pittsburg in Richmond. Operating hours for this facility are Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can drop off up to 4 bags at this location. They must provide ID that they are a West County Resident.
Please call City Hall at (510) 799-8200 if you have questions or need more information.
